Ratan Tata, the esteemed Indian industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons, has passed away at the age of 86. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief and condolences from prominent figures across various sectors, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, industrialist Anand Mahindra, and former cricketer Virender Sehwag. Tributes have flooded in, reflecting Tata's significant impact on India's business landscape and his legacy as a philanthropist and visionary leader.

PM Modi took to X and said, “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better.”

President of India Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences on the passing of Ratan Tata, describing him as an icon who combined corporate growth with nation-building and excellence with ethics. She noted his achievements, including receiving the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, and highlighted his role in enhancing the global presence of the Tata legacy. Murmu acknowledged Tata's inspiring influence on both professionals and students and emphasized the significance of his contributions to philanthropy and charity.

Neeraj Chopra also expressed his condolences on the passing of Ratan Tata, calling him a visionary who inspired the nation. He reflected on a memorable conversation he had with Tata and offered prayers for strength to Tata's loved ones.

Anand Mahindra expressed his profound sorrow over Ratan Tata's passing, stating he cannot accept his absence. Mahindra noted that Tata's mentorship would have been invaluable during this pivotal time, urging others to emulate Tata's example of using financial success to benefit the global community.


Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Ratan Tata, calling him a legendary industrialist and true nationalist. He highlighted Tata's selfless dedication to the nation, noting that his zeal and commitment to improving India and its people were always inspiring. Shah emphasised that Tata's efforts contributed to the realisation of countless dreams, stating that his legacy would endure in the hearts of many.

Gautam Adani, in a post on X, expressed his sorrow over the passing of Ratan Tata, calling him a giant and a visionary who reshaped India's modern trajectory. Adani highlighted that Tata was more than just a business leader, as he embodied India's spirit through his integrity, compassion, and dedication to the greater good.

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag honoured Ratan Tata on Twitter, referring to him as the "true Ratan of Bharat".
