In a real life money heist, three masked men wearing military-style uniforms and wielding firearms stormed a State Bank of India branch in Chadachan, Karnataka, on Tuesday evening, making off with gold ornaments valued at Rs 20 crore and Rs 1 crore in cash, police reported.
The robbers subdued the bank staff, restrained the manager and employees, and locked them in the restroom. They bound the hands and feet of staff and customers with plastic bags to immobilize them.
According to NDTV, the robbers ordered the branch manager to open the cash vault for counting and then compelled the staff to unlock the gold locker. "Take out the cash, otherwise I will kill you," one of the assailants warned the branch manager.
The robbers stuffed their bags with cash and customers’ gold ornaments before fleeing the scene. Following the robbery, Chadachan Police Station’s Superintendent of Police, Laxman Nimbargi, and senior officers arrived at the scene.

Initial investigations revealed the gang used a van with a fake number plate to execute the robbery. They fled toward Pandharpur in Maharashtra, but after entering Solapur district, they were involved in a collision, sparking a dispute with locals.
The robbers then abandoned the scene with the stolen jewelry and cash, according to police.
"The accused used an Ecco vehicle with a fake number plate to commit the offence. After an accident involving a two-wheeler, they then absconded from the spot with the loot," said Vijayapura Superintendent of Police, Lakshman Nimbargi.
A case has been filed, and Karnataka and Maharashtra police are conducting a joint operation to apprehend the suspects.
