Reasi terror attack: Two days after a deadly terror attack in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir Police have released a sketch of one of the terrorists involved and announced a Rs 20 lakh reward for information leading to his capture. The attack on a passenger bus resulted in nine deaths and 41 injuries.

On Sunday, terrorists ambushed a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims traveling from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. The attack occurred near Teryath village in the Poni area. The bus, which carried pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, veered into a deep gorge in Reasi district after being fired upon.

“Reasi police announce a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in the recent attack on the Yatri bus in the area of Pouni,” news agency PTI quoted a police spokesperson as saying.

Efforts to track down the terrorists are in full swing, with 11 teams of security personnel deployed and a multi-directional cordon established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt. According to the Jammu police, the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba is believed to be behind the attack.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) assessed the situation in Reasi on Monday, and its forensic team is collecting evidence. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Reasi SSP Mohita Sharma earlier said that the terrorists were waiting for the bus. The driver was hit by gunfire, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Bullet shells were recovered from the site.

Sujan Singh, the owner of the private bus that was ambushed by terrorists in Reasi has demanded the status of martyr for the driver Vijay Kumar and teenage conductor Arun Kumar for averting an even more terrible catastrophe by plunging the vehicle into a gorge to escape the raining bullets.
