Red Fort Delhi Now Open Seven Days A Week, Including Monday: ASI Announces New Visitor Policy

Red Fort, the historic Mughal fort, built by Shah Jahan, in Delhi, is now set to remain open to visitors on all days of the week, including Mondays, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced.

Earlier, the Mughal-era monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, used to remain closed every Monday.

According to a senior ASI official, an order issued on February 13 directs that the Red Fort be kept open throughout the week. The directive, signed by the Director General of the ASI, has already come into effect.

Officials confirmed that the historic fort in Old Delhi was open to visitors on February 16 following the issuance of the order. The ASI administers centrally protected monuments across the country and oversees their maintenance and public access.

In a recent development, the Intelligence Bureau has issued a terror alert at the Red Fort and prominent locations, followed by bomb threats by the Pakistani terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba.
