Renukaswamy Murder Case: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and three of his associates have been sent to judicial custody in the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara on Saturday on the charges of murdering Chitradurga's Renukaswamy. His girlfriend and actress Pavithra Gowda, who allegedly instigated Thoogudeepa to commit the crime, already remained lodged in judicial custody. Till now, Bengaluru Police has arrested 17 people in connection to the brutal murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan, who was allegedly killed by the actor and several of his associates after he sent derogatory messages and photos to Pavithra.
Custody in the Central Prison won't be new for 'D Boss' (Darshan, a name given by his die-hard fans) as this would be the second time in 13 years, that he will go to the same jail. Earlier, the 'Challenging Star' was arrested in September 2011 on the charges of domestic abuse. His then-wife Vijayalakshmi had alleged that he had beaten her and their 3-year-old son. Darshan was sent to one month of judicial custody by a city court in the same Central Prison. However, he was later given bail by the Karnataka High Court.
Following the ordeal, Vijayalakshmi withdrew the case and announced that they had reached a compromise.
A similar scene unfolded on Saturday when Darshan was remanded to judicial custody by Judge Vijaykumar Jatla till July 4. Several others, including Dhanaraj alias Raju, Vinay V, and Pradosh, were also packed off to the prison till the next hearing.
