After 78 years, a small village in Himachal Pradesh finally gained proper road connectivity. Tuman village, located in the Chawasi area of Mandi district, celebrated the arrival of its first motorable road in December. A video from the event captures locals clapping, cheering, and waiting with garlands to welcome the first bus.
The newly constructed 2.7-kilometre road, built by the Public Works Department from Shakeld to Tuman, marks a significant development for the region, which had been isolated from essential transport links for decades.

According to a report from NDTV, a trial run of a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus was conducted to celebrate the milestone. The bus was flagged off by Karsog Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gaurav Mahajan, who led the way from Shakeld to Tuman. Villagers joined the leaders and officials on the journey, accompanying them on the round trip.
The arrival of the bus was met with joyous celebrations, as residents gathered to witness the long-awaited moment. The occasion was marked by the distribution of sweets and a formal welcome ceremony.

The villagers expressed their heartfelt thanks to the district administration, the Public Works Department, the Transport Corporation, and other involved agencies for making the road and bus service a reality. They also called for the continuation of the service, urging authorities to make it permanent.
The road was officially inaugurated by Prithvi Singh Negi, the former president of the Karsog Congress Committee.
