RG Kar Hospital Murder: In a big development regarding the rape and murder of the trainee doctor at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, the parents of the victim reportedly received three calls on the night of the crime. According to a report by India Today, the man on all three calls refused to divulge what had happened to the doctor. She was reportedly raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
Bengal Doctor Rape: The Three Calls From RG Kar Hospital
In the first call received by the parents, the assistant superintendent of RG Kar Hospital asked the parents of the accused doctor to come to the hospital. “Your daughter is not well. Can you please come to the hospital immediately?” he said, per India Today. Jagran English cannot verify the authenticity of the report independently.
On being asked about more details about the victim by the father, the man on the call said that she wasn't well and that the hospital was admitting her. On being pressed by the father seeking further information, the man said that the doctors would tell him what happened next. The man kept on insisting that they come to the hospital.
In the third call, the staff member revealed that the victim might have had committed suicide or died.
"The police are here. We are at the hospital, in front of everyone, making this call," the staff told the parents anxiously.
According to the report, the parents kept on insisting repeatedly about the condition of her daughter. However, the authorities kept on deflecting their questions by saying that the doctors can only tell them.
Mamata Banerjee Is Not In Favour Of Investigation: Adhir Ranjan
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said on Thursday that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not in favour of the investigation of the case as it may reveal many secrets. He has also alleged that Banerjee fears the investigation might reveal sensitive secrets and is attempting to divert attention by making inflammatory statements and intimidating the public.
However, Chowdhury claimed that such tactics are failing as the case has ignited widespread protests and become a mass movement.
"Mamata Banerjee does not want this case to be investigated properly because many secrets will be revealed, she does not want this to happen, so she is trying to divert attention by speaking nonsense and scaring people but people will not get afraid as this has become a mass movement," Chowdhury told ANI.
FIR Filed Against Mamata Banerjee
On Thursday, a lawyer practising in the Supreme Court has filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Banerjee over her 'provocative' remarks wherein she reportedly warned that other states might witness violence and unrest if attempts were made to create trouble in Bengal.
On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee said, "Modi babu, you are trying to create unrest in Bengal through your people. But remember, if you burn Bengal, Assam, Northeast, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will burn too."
In the complaint, Vineet Jindal cites a statement made by Mamata Banerjee during a public meeting with TMC student wing members. She allegedly said, "Remember, if Bengal burns, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also burn." Jindal contends that this statement is instigating, provocative, and anti-national. He argues that her words are designed to incite regional hatred and enmity, which could undermine national harmony and public order.
Mamata Deny 'Threat' Allegations To Doctors
On Thursday, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted that she did not threaten junior doctors at state-run hospitals, who have been continuing cease-work for 21 days now to protest against the alleged rape and murder of a woman medic.
Banerjee said accusations that have come from certain quarters of her threatening the agitating junior doctors are "completely false" and part of a “malicious disinformation campaign”.

"Let me most emphatically clarify that I have not uttered a single word against the (medical etc.) students or their movements. I totally support their movement. Their movement is genuine. I never threatened them, as some people are accusing me of doing. This allegation is completely false," she wrote on X.
The brutal rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor on the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital premises sparked outrage all over the country. The incident shook the entire nation, and since then several protests have been staged demanding justice for the victim.
