Locals Object To Drinking In The Ganga

Reportedly, the local youth present there stepped forward and protested against the visitors and made them aware of the sanctity of the Ganga. The youth said that it is a very inappropriate act to consume alcohol in a holy river, as it deeply affects the religious sentiments of the pilgrims.

The youth further said that it will always be a pleasure for the people of the devbhoomi Uttarakhand to welcome the tourists in the state, but on no account should they be allowed to make any kind of disrespect to their religious sentiments.

According to sources, after a heated argument with people at the site, the three tourists reportedly realised their mistake and vacated the place.

Local police have not yet confirmed the actual site of the incident, and have also suggested that it could have taken place either in the Tapovan area of Tehri district or close to Lakshman Jhula in Pauri Garhwal.
