Jagran Correspondent, Unnao: In a major update for the residents of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that the rapid rail would operate between Unnao, Lucknow, and Kanpur. While providing details, the officials stated that the project would increase the regional connectivity around Unnao and generate thousands of new jobs. As per the reports, the corridor would be developed just like the rapid rail line between Delhi and Meerut.

While providing details, the officials conformed that the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has already granted approval for the rapid rail project between Bani and Amausi Airport. They further stated that the train will be able to operate at a speed of 160 km per hour. The officials also stated that the project will reduce the travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur to 30 minutes. Earlier, Sadar MLA Pankaj Gupta had demanded a stoppage for the rapid rail in Unnao.

As per the reports, the train route will connect Amausi Airport to the Ganga Barrage via Bani, Unnao, Jaitipur, Ajgain, and Magrawara. Apart from this, the authorities are also planning to connect the corridor to metro stations in Lucknow and Kanpur to boost the connectivity. Along with cutting the travel time, the project is also expected to reduce the traffic congestion.

Earlier on June 17, the government also approved the extension of metro services from Barra-8 to Naubasta. Apart from this, preparations are reportedly underway to extend the metro to Unnao, Panki, and Chakeri as well. The extension of metro services is likely to provide relief to thousands of commuters.

The officials stated that the Central Development Authority (CDA) has also begun preparations for six other routes. They further stated that the routes have been identified and a preliminary survey has also been completed. As per the reports, the authority is planning to lay a 150-km metro rail network across the city to boost regional connectivity.
