Jayant Chaudhary, the chief Rashtriya Lok Dal chief, hinted that their tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the Lok Sabha elections may happen soon. In a video posted on X, Jayant added that he also gave reasons why he “quit the INDIA alliance”.

“When the official announcement happens (of Lok Sabha elections) then I will speak about why I quit (INDIA alliance) and what are our thoughts for the future and what we want to do for our people…”

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held in the next few months, the saffron party is leaving no stone unturned to maximise their seats in the stronghold of the RLD. Jayant has also helped the BJP negate the impact of farmers’ protests and the wrestlers’ agitation.

Earlier, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary said that there was no planning behind his decision, and it was taken after consulting all MLAs and workers from his party.

"...I took this decision after speaking to all the MLAs and workers of my party. There was no big planning behind this decision, or we had decided this a long time back. We had to take this decision within a short time because of the situation. We want to do something good for the country, our people," Chaudhary said speaking to reporters in Delhi on Monday, as quoted by news agency ANI.

It is likely that RLD will get two ministerial berths in the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh (UP), news agency IANS said in a report on Friday. According to sources cited by IANS, discussions regarding the inclusion of RLD MLAs into UP's BJP government are underway. Of the two RLD MLAs, one will be given the post of a Cabinet minister, while the other will be appointed as a minister of state, IANS reported. RLD's Ashraf Ali and Rajpal Balyan are expected to be given the posts, party sources told IANS.
