In a startling case from Maharashtra’s Beed district, police have uncovered a marriage fraud racket that allegedly duped multiple men through fake weddings.
At the centre of the scam is a ‘robber bride’ who had reportedly married eight times before. Her scheme came to light after she targeted a man from Umapur village, making him her ninth victim.
According to an NDTV report, the victim was ensnared by agents linked to the racket, who arranged the marriage and extracted lakhs of rupees under its pretext. However, not long after the wedding, the man grew suspicious of the bride’s conduct.
