RSS Ban Demand Row: A day after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Sangh's organisation General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Saturday hit back at the grand old party supremo, saying 'he should learn a lesson from past attempts.'
While speaking at a press conference in Jabalpur, MP, Hosabale said, “They have tried many times before. He should learn from earlier experiences. One of their tall leaders tried thrice to impose a ban, what happened then? The Court and the people both gave their verdict. The RSS is moving ahead. There must be a valid reason for a ban; it cannot be done just because someone wishes so. You want to ban the Sangh that works for India’s security and cultural protection. Society has accepted the Sangh. Such leaders should learn from history.”

BJP Defends RSS, Says Karge Spoke Language Of PFI, Muslim League
Soon after Kharge raised a demand to ban the Sangh, the Bharatiya Janata Party came forward to defend the RSS, saying Kharge spoke the language of the Popular Front of India (PFI), Muslim League and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
Hitting back, BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "We vehemently condemned Kharge's remarks about the RSS." "The language that he used today to talk about the RSS is the language of the Popular Front of India, Muslim League and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind," he added.
Patra said that the Congress president should read about the history of the RSS and the country before making such "objectionable" comments. Kharge should also "know and understand" what Mahatma Gandhi, B R Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi had said about the Sangh, he added.
A controversy erupted after the Congress president said that in his personal opinion, the RSS should be banned as most law and order problems in the country are arising because of the BJP-RSS.
He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has insulted the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by allowing government employees to be associated with the Sangh.
