Sabarimala Weather Service: The Sabarimala pilgrimage, for the first time, gets a localised weather forecasting system, such as those utilized for the Amarnath and Char Dham yatras by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD declared that three rain gauges would be installed at strategic points in Sannidhanam, Pamba, and Nilakkal.
The program aims to deliver accurate and timely weather information to pilgrims visiting the Sabarimala temple.
The rain gauges will offer a three-day weather forecast, which will eventually be updated to real-time weather bulletins known as "nowcasts."
In order to track the difficulties caused by rising temperatures and excessive humidity during dry spells, the IMD also intends to place temperature gauges around the area.
Because of the area's susceptibility to heavy rainfall, the Pathanamthitta district administration requested real-time weather updates, which motivated the weather forecasting program.
As part of the collaboration, local district staff will receive training on how to gather data from the rain gauges.
Rain gauges were chosen by the IMD to speed up the procedure, even though Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) were previously being considered for Sabarimala.
To improve the forecast system in the future, a permanent weather monitoring facility is being considered.
Sabarimala's Swami Chatbot
The state government's "Swami AI Chat Bot" software will soon incorporate the weather forecasts. The app will give pilgrims real-time weather data and help in six languages.
The AI assistant's logo, created by the district administration, was unveiled by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Six languages will be supported by the Swami Chatbot, which is intended to be used via a smartphone interface: English, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
