Mumbai Police has revealed new details about Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, who was arrested for attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Bandra. According to fresh updates, the police stated that the accused slept soundly and even changed his clothes before heading to Worli after committing the crime, as reported by PTI.

Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, was apprehended in Thane on Sunday after an extensive manhunt.

As per reports from News18, the accused previously worked at a restaurant and pub in the Worli area. In August of the previous year, he allegedly stole a diamond ring from a customer. The theft came to light after CCTV footage was examined following a complaint by the ring's owner. Shehzad was subsequently fired from his job after the incident.

Mumbai Police To Recreate Crime Scene

A Mumbai court has remanded the accused in police custody for five days. The Mumbai Police is likely to recreate the crime scene at Khan’s residence to gather more information about the attack.

Earlier, the police revealed that Shehzad, who stabbed Saif Ali Khan multiple times, had initially entered the actor's home with the intention of theft. After committing the crime, he fled the scene, rested at a bus stop, changed his clothes and then travelled from Bandra railway station to Dadar, later proceeding to Worli before finally heading to Thane city.

Shehzad has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 311 (robbery or dacoity with the intent to cause grievous harm or death), Section 331(4) (housebreaking and additional offences, along with provisions of the Passport Act.
