Mala Ashok Ankola Death Update: The body of Mala Ashok Ankola (77), the mother of former cricketer Salil Ankola was found in her Pune flat on Friday with her throat slit, a police official stated. The official added that the injuries marks looked "self-inflicted". The woman was found in her flat on Prabhat Road in Deccan Gymkhana area in the afternoon.

"The incident came to light after her maid came to the flat and then alerted relatives after no one answered the door," the officail said.

"When the door was opened, the woman was found dead with her throat slit. Prima facie, it looks like the injuries are self-inflicted. However, we are probing the case from all angles," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Sandip Singh Gill, as quoted by a PTI report.

She was suffering from some mental ailment, Gill added.

Who Is Former Cricketer And Actor Salil Ankola?

Salil Ankola, a fast-medium bowler, made his Test debut for Team India on November 15, 1989, against Pakistan. He also played ODIs. Moreover, he went on to represent India in the ODI World Cup played in the year 1996. Salil Ankola played one Test and 20 ODIs between 1989 and 1997. Salil Ankola retired from cricket at age of 29 in 1997, cutting short his promising career.

He later acted in films and TV serials. Salil appeared in popular series such as 'Kehta Hai Dil', 'CID', and 'Karmaphal Daata Shani', where he portrayed Surya Dev. His appearances on reality television include participating in the first season of 'Bigg Boss' and appearing on shows like 'Fear Factor India' and 'Power Couple'.

Later, he entered Bollywood. He made his acting debut in 2000, co-starring with Sanjay Dutt in Kurukshetra. Following this, Salil landed several roles in movies such as Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Riwayat, Ekta, and The Power.

Salil Ankola's Personal life

Salil struggled with alcoholism and faced financial issues, eventually leading to his divorce from his first wife, Parineeta Ankola. Salil later remarried Riya Banerjee. He then moved to television, participating in popular serials such as CID and Vikraal Aur Gabraal, demonstrating his versatility as an actor.
