Sambalpur News: Married Woman, His Lover Consume Poison After Fight Over Affair In Odisha

A married woman and her lover attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday afternoon in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday. The incident took place after the couple had a fight over their illicit relationship following which they consumed weedicide.   

The couple, identified as Papun Behera and his girlfriend from Badkura village, were admitted to Burla Hospital for better treatment after being found unconscious under the Khandapul bridge by the hospital staff. 

According to locals, the woman’s husband and two children, who had accompanied her to Redhakhol, were unaware of her affair with Papun, which had been going on for years. Papun, who came to Redhakhol after learning about the woman’s visit, met her near the bridge and persuaded her to consume the weedicide with him. 

Police found about the incident after the couple were admitted to the Redhakhol hospital for treatment where they informed doctors about their suicide attempt. The Redhakhol police have initiated an investigation into the matter while the woman’s family is unaware of the incident so far.
