The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday booked IRS officer Wankhede for allegedly seeking Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Aryan Khan in drug bust case. Reportedly, three others along with Wankhede have also been booked in connection with the Aryan Khan cruise case.
The central agency raided 29 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh).
Aryan Khan was arrested in an alleged drug bust case on the Cordelia cruise ship on October 2, 2021.
The chargesheet that was filed by NCB in the drugs-on-cruise case, gave a clean chit to Aryan Khan, in the drugs-on-cruise case, gave a clean chit to Aryan Khan. However, an SIT that was set up by the anti-drugs agency claimed the probe led by Wankhede had lapses.
According to the officials cited by the news agency PTI, the searches were conducted across 29 locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur. It is alleged that Wankhede and others demanded for not framing Aryan Khan in the drug case.
They also mentioned that the CBI got to know that Rs 50 lakh was allegedly collected by the officer and his accomplice as advance.
When Aryan Khan was arrested, Wankhede was in charge of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai. In May of last year, he was transferred to the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services in Chennai.
