West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed concerns over the major security breach that took place at the new Parliament building in New Delhi and said that it was a serious matter and it should be investigated.
"It's a security lapse. The Home Minister already admitted that. And this is a very serious matter. Let them investigate the matter,” the Bengal CM said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Banerjee also raised the issue of TMC MP Derek O’Brien’s suspension from the Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the Winter Session of Parliament and said that he was suspended because he raised the issue of a security breach in the house.
"They (Opposition) have already raised the issue and that's why TMC leader Derek O'Brien has been suspended and other Congress and DMK MPs have also been suspended," she said.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Salman Khurshid has questioned the steps taken by the BJP-led central government in connection with the incident.
"What happened was a very serious incident, shouldn't the BJP be speaking about the incident to everyone? We just want them to accept the fact that something wrong happened and what steps they're taking regarding this. Who gave the pass to those intruders? Who is connected to them? It's not important what ideology they (intruders) follow, but the point is how they get a chance to do such a thing," Khurshid told news agency ANI.
Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attributed the major security breach in Parliament to 'unemployment' and 'inflation’.
Meanwhile, PM Modi also broke his silence on the recent Parliament security breach and called it a ‘serious issue’. In a recent interview with Dainik Jagran, the prime minister acknowledged the gravity of the situation and stated that its seriousness should not be underestimated. He also called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

This came after a major security breach took place in Parliament on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament Terror Attack. Two intruders identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery and released coloured smoke from the canisters and shouted slogans.
However, the intruders were overpowered by some MPs who were present in the house who thrashed them and handed them over to the ward staff. They were later arrested by the police. While another two accused sprayed coloured gas from canisters while shouting slogans outside Parliament.
