Seven books of Nirmal Verma and Gagan Gill were launched last Saturday at the Jalsaghar of Rajkamal Prakashan Samooh in the World Book Fair. Anand Kumar, Virendra Yadav, Abdul Bismillah, Harish Trivedi, Akhilesh, Ravish Kumar, Geet Chaturvedi, Dinesh Srinet were present on this occasion.

All the books of Nirmal Verma and Gagan Gill are now being published by Rajkamal Prakashan. Of these, six books by Nirmal Verma– ‘Ve Din’, ‘Lal Tin Ki Chhat’, ‘Raat Ka Reporter’, ‘Ek Chithra Sukh’ (Novels); ‘Parinde’ (Story Collection); ‘Cheeron Par Chandni’ (Travel Memoir) and Gagan Gill’s poetry collection ‘Yeh Akanksha Samay Nahi’ were launched at the World Book Fair. Rajkamal will publish the remaining books of both the authors soon.

During the inauguration program, Gagan Gill shared many intimate memories related to his life. She said, “In the last 18 years, I got the opportunity to work with many people, but the harmony that was with Rajkamal and Ashok ji was not found anywhere else. I am overwhelmed that today after so many years, Nirmal ji and my books are being published by Rajkamal with a new packaging. Rajkamal Prakashan has always had a tradition of publishing excellent works, I believe that there can be no better publisher for Nirmal ji's literature than Ashok ji and Rajkamal."

During this session, all the guests present on the stage shared many memories related to Nirmal Verma. Among the speakers on the stage, Priyadarshan said, “I think that in the loneliness of modernity, the curse of displacement, everyone is searching for their home. Nirmal Verma has written these sentiments in the most intimate manner. That is why he remains so contemporary, relevant and popular today.” Virendra Yadav said, “Without the ideological literature of Nirmal ji, the discussion of literature appears hollow.”

Anand Kumar said, “The remaining hundred books are on one side and Nirmal Verma's books on the other side.” Whereas Geet Chaturvedi said, “Nirmal Verma connects most with the youth among the litterateurs of that era.” At the end of this session, Ravish Kumar read an excerpt from Nirmal ji's novel 'Raat Ka Reporter' and said that I have read Nirmal Verma's literature, so I can say that we all should read it.

On this occasion, Ashok Maheshwari, Chairman of Rajkamal Prakashan Samooh, introduced the publishing team on the stage and said that it is the result of the collective efforts of all our team that these books could reach the readers in a new packaging. Everyone appreciated these books very much since they were published.

He said, “I have received a lot of affection and love from Nirmal ji, I could never forget him. Years ago, the circumstances under which Nirmal ji's books were published elsewhere remained a sad affair for me and an unpleasant affair for Rajkamal Prakashan. Well, we have corrected our mistake. I am personally, and institutionally, very happy that all the books of Nirmal ji and Gagan ji have returned to their original publications.”
