Veer Soren (19), the grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, died under suspicious circumstances in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday. According to reports, the teenager had traveled to the hill station with a group of friends for a vacation.
What Happened in Manali
Veer and his friends arrived in Manali on February 22 and checked into a homestay in Simsa. On February 23, the group visited Solang Valley and Sethan village on the Hamta Pass route before returning to their accommodation.
The following day, Veer reported feeling unwell. When his friends returned from an outing, Veer mentioned he was suffering from a severe headache. He was given medicine and went to sleep. However, at approximately 2:30 pm, his friends rushed to his room after hearing a loud noise. They found Veer unconscious on the floor with foam forming around his mouth.
Investigations Underway
His friends immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors administered CPR. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive him, and he was declared dead on arrival.
Speaking to The Times of India, the Manali DSP stated that the exact cause of death remains unknown, pending the results of a post-mortem examination. Medical professionals noted that the symptoms could potentially be related to high-altitude pulmonary edema (altitude sickness). Veer’s family members have arrived in Manali, and the autopsy was scheduled to be conducted following the filing of this report.
