Shashi Tharoor, Congress Leader, responded to a video featuring Pakistani journalist Moeed Pirzada on Sunday, who praised the Indian Lawmaker while taking a jibe at Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto for his “monkey see, monkey do” approach to sending delegations worldwide.

Soon after New Delhi announced plans to send an all-party delegation to various counties to brief them about Operation Sindoor, Islamabad followed suit by deciding to send Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to lead its global peace mission.

In the video, Pirzada compared Tharoor and Bhutto, praising Tharoor as a foreign policy expert. He described Tharoor as a foreign policy hawk with extensive experience in both foreign policy and the United Nations.

He further mentioned that Tharoor, a self-made man, has extensive experience interacting with foreign media and a wealth of knowledge in the field. In contrast, he noted that Bhutto has not faced similar struggles and is in politics solely due to his family background.

About Shashi Tharoor

Tharoor's involvement with the United Nations spanned nearly three decades, from 1978 to 2007, during which he held several prominent positions. His career began with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva, and he eventually rose to the rank of Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. A significant highlight of his UN tenure was his 2006 candidacy for Secretary-General, where he was a strong contender but ultimately finished second to Ban Ki-moon.

His experience within the UN gave him a profound understanding of international relations and multilateral diplomacy, shaping his views on global governance and the UN's role in addressing contemporary challenges.

A total of 59 Members of Parliament, former ministers, and leaders from various political parties, along with former diplomats, will visit 32 countries and the European Union.

On the other hand, Pakistan has announced plans to send Bilawal Bhutto to counter the Indian delegation, which includes Tharoor. Bilawal Bhutto, the son of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari, entered politics after his mother's assassination in 2007, inheriting the chairmanship of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“I was contacted earlier today by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who requested that I lead a delegation to present Pakistan’s case for peace on the international stage. I am honoured to accept this responsibility and remain committed to serving Pakistan in these challenging times," Bhutto said in a post on X.
