CONGRESS MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor has already said that the upcoming film ‘The Kerala Story’ misrepresents the reality of Kerala and further expressed his disapproval regarding women going missing from the state and being radicalised.

Tharoor was countered by a Twitter user for his old post where he mentioned that three mothers from Kerala approached him with concerns over the radicalization of their daughters.

When asked why he has objections to Sudipto Sen’s Kerala Story which is based on the same subject, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said that he was only aware of four cases which are a far cry from the 32,000 cases that the Kerala Story makers claimed.

“If there really were so many ISIS female members from Kerala, that would mean double the number when you count their husbands, whereas even Western intelligence sources says the number of ALL Indians in ISIS does not approach three figures. This gross exaggeration and distortion of the Kerala reality is what I am objecting to,” Tharoor further said in a tweet.

Earlier, the makers of the ‘Kerala Story’ in the description on Youtube mentioned that the movie is based on ‘heartbreaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32,000 females in Kerala'.

However, the makers have now updated the description and changed the earlier mentioned ‘32,000’’ women to ‘3’ women. The changed description of the movie reads, "A spine-chilling, never told before the true story - revealing a dangerous conspiracy that has been hatched against India. The Kerala Story is a compilation of the true stories of three young girls from different parts of Kerala.”

The producer of the movie, Vipul Amrutlal Shah told news agency PTI that the movie is about three ladies and the figure of 32,000 has been changed though the makers stand by the number.

The movie sparked controversy after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Earlier, Kerala Chief Minister sparked controversy with his statement that the movie aims to promote Sangh Parivar’s propaganda.
