Sheesh Mahal Controversy: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday staged a protest outside former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over the 'Sheesh Mahal' controversy. The protest was led by BJP Delhi's chief Virendraa Sachdeva, and it also witnessed a presence of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot, who recently joined the saffron regiment.
BJP workers were spotted climbing over the police barricades, carrying placards. The police took into custody the protesting leaders and workers.
What Is Sheesh Mahal Controversy? The 'Sheesh Mahal' row concerns the grand new CM residence in Delhi, constructed during Arvind Kejriwal's tenure. The BJP has slammed the building, referring to it as 'Sheesh Mahal', and alleging that Kejriwal has gone back on his early promise to reject a government bungalow.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Kejriwal, who resigned as chief minister in September this year, vacated the Flagstaff Road bungalow in Civil Lines on October 4.
Kailash Gahlot Exudes Confidence Over Upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections: BJP leader Ashok Gehlot took a swipe at AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying the 'Sheesh Mahal' issue is indeed unfortunate.
"We have come here to protest over the 'Sheesh Mahal' issue. When I wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal, I wrote clearly that a controversy has been created over Sheesh Mahal is truly unfortunate. This is an example of compromise with the core principles of AAP," he said.
Further exuding confidence in BJP's victory, he said, "I think this time BJP will form the Government in Delhi this time. People are troubled because work was not done in Delhi - sewers are overflowing, drinking water is not being supplied, roads are damaged. I am confident that the people of Delhi will make BJP win this time."
