In a horrifying incident, a stray dog was discovered carrying the mutilated body of a newborn baby, with its head and arms missing, in a park in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The event occurred on Thursday, causing widespread panic among local residents.
A resident, Amit Trivedi, was the first to notice the stray dog running towards Friends Park carrying an object wrapped in cloth. Feeling suspicious, he pursued the dog, which eventually dropped the body and fled. When Trivedi, together with other locals, unwrapped the cloth, they discovered the newborn's body without arms and hands, and with its chest severely mutilated.
According to a NDTV report, investigations revealed that, based on the umbilical cord, it appears the baby had been born 24 to 36 hours prior.

Police found the child’s palm still attached to an IV cannula, suggesting that the baby was delivered in a hospital or nursing home.
Officers suspect that the newborn may have been the victim of an illegal abortion and discarded in a garbage heap immediately after birth, from where the stray dog dragged it to the park. "They also suspect another possibility that the child may have died first and then been buried," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South Deependra Nath stated.
The child’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, officials confirmed.
Authorities are gathering further evidence from the IV cannula and CCTV footage, they added.
