Surat Crime News: A 20-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her ex-lover in Surat's GIDC area on Thursday. The accused stabbed her continuously with a screwdriver and then bludgeoned her to death with a heavy stone.
The attacker, identified as Shailesh Vishwakarma (24), was in a relationship with the victim, Nilu Vishwakarma, for three years. Shailesh was enraged ever since Nilu made an announcement of her possible engagement with another man a few days ago. Both of them were natives of Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya but were living in Surat for the last 12 years and were neighbours here.
A report by the Times of India state that around 11 am Nilu went to her neighbour's house. Suddenly loud screams started to come from the neighbour's house. When Nilu's sister-in-law rushed to the neighbours, she witnessed Shailesh stabbing Nilu brutally. Seeing his rage, nobody out of the 10 people gathered there, dared to stop him. Shailesh then sat beside Nilu and watched her as she breathed her last breath.

"When he was attacking Nilu, someone called the police and a team patrolling nearby reached there. The cops were surprised to see that Shailesh was sitting beside her body, and he was arrested," the Times of India quoted GIDC police inspector, JR Chaudhary, as saying. Shailesh, however, has not spoken a word during preliminary questioning. Investigation to ascertain the reason for this gruesome attack is on.
