Hours after a report claimed another surgical strike on Pakistan by India, the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday denied all such claims and said that the Indian Army killed two terrorists and foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district's Balakote sector, asserting that it was not a surgical strike, according to a statement cited by News 18.
According to an official statement by the Indian Army, the security forces also recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition including one AK 47, two magazines, 30 rounds, two hand grenades, and Pakistan-origin medicine.
Multiple intelligence agencies and police agencies indicated the presence of terrorists waiting over the LoC to enter from the Balakote area. Based on these data, a surveillance grid was activated and several ambushes were set in strategic locations, the statement stated.
Earlier on Monday morning, the troops detected two terrorists trying to cross the LoC while using inclement weather, dense fog, thick foliage and undulating ground in the Hamirpur area of the Balakote sector to their advantage.

As the terrorists approached ambush, they were challenged and then engaged with effective fire. This forced the terrorists to flee from the ambush site. However, firing resulted in one terrorist falling down on the ground near the LoC, read the official statement.
