Sushil Kumar Modi Last Rites: The last rites of former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi were performed at Patna's Digha Ghat with full state honours. Veteran BJP leader Modi passed away yesterday at the age of 72, after battling with cancer for over six months. Many senior BJP leaders including party president JP Nadda and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Samrat Choudhary, attended the last rites of Bihar's political stalwart and paid their tributes.
Earlier today, the body of the former Deputy CM was brought to Patna from New Delhi. The special flight carrying the mortal remains of the leader from New Delhi reached Patna airport in the afternoon.

Several senior BJP leaders were present at the airport to receive the body. The body was taken to his residence in the Rajendra Nagar area in the state capital.
Sons Performed Last Rites
His sons, Uttarkash Modi and Akshay Modi, performed the final rituals, lighting the pyre amid an emotionally charged atmosphere. The body of the former BJP leader was placed at the party's state office in Patna before being carried in a procession to the crematorium. Along the way, mourners chanted slogans like "Sushil Modi Amar Rahein" as the procession moved from the BJP headquarters to the cremation site.
Nadda placed a wreath on the body of the late leader at the party office in Patna. Several Union ministers, and Bihar ministers, including DyCMs - Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha -- offered floral tributes to the late leader.
Modi held the position of deputy chief minister of Bihar from 2005 to 2013 and resumed the role from 2017 to 2020. He passed away around 9.45 pm at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Last month, he publicly revealed his battle with cancer over the past six months, announcing his inability to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections.
