Kumar, accused of assaulting Swati Maliwal on May 13 during a visit to the CM's residence was arrested on May 18 following an FIR filed by the Rajya Sabha MP on May 16. Kumar has been lodged in Tihar Jail for about two months.
Swati Maliwal Assault Case
Swati Maliwal had alleged that Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar assaulted her inside CM's residence with kicks, punches and slaps. Following that, a medical examination was also conducted of Maliwal.
In the FIR, Maliwal had said, "He (Bibhav Kumar) slapped me 7-8 times at least while I continued screaming. I pushed him away to protect myself. At that time he pounced on me, brutally dragged me and deliberately pulled my shirt up."
"Bibhav Kumar did not relent and attacked me by kicking me repeatedly in my chest, stomach and pelvic area with his legs. I was in extreme pain and kept telling him to stop," She added.
Charges against Kumar include sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354B (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insult to the modesty of a woman). During Kumar's custody, police undertook two trips to Mumbai to recover allegedly deleted data from his mobile phones.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court denied bail to Kumar, citing concerns over his influence potentially tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses. The court also noted discrepancies in the submission of CCTV footage during the initial stages of the investigation. The chargesheet by Delhi police may increase legal troubles for Bibhav Kumar.
