Tamil Nadu Holiday: State government employees and staff at commercial and cooperative banks in Tamil Nadu can look forward to an extended holiday schedule in 2025, thanks to a series of long weekends. The government has announced a total of 24 public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which will provide several opportunities for extended breaks.

According to a DT Next report, the new holiday calendar reveals that employees will enjoy three holidays on Mondays and Fridays, five on Thursdays and three on Tuesdays. However, there is a downside, as six holidays will be 'lost'—these include three Sundays and two Saturdays that are recognised as government holidays. Additionally, Vijaya Dasami will coincide with Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2), resulting in another day off being forfeited.
