MM Abdulla, a Tamil Nadu Rajya Sabha MP, was allegedly "stopped" and "questioned" by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel while on a usual visit to Parliament on Tuesday. In a letter to Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP said that CISF personnel were "questioning" his "purpose of visit" to Parliament.

In his harshly worded letter, Abdulla added, "Such an unprecedented misbehavior has never happened earlier." “I am still unable to comprehend the manner in which I was questioned today by the CISF personnel and the incident has deeply affected me,” Abdulla wrote.

Abdulla stated that he thought MPs may enter the Parliament “even if they do not have any official engagements” and that he just had to tell the Rajya Sabha chairman and custodian of the purpose of his visit.

The MP has requested that the chairman of the Rajya Sabha act against the CISF officers for their "misbehaviour."

DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai verified the incident to The Indian Express while Abdulla was not available for comment. “He was stopped and questioned. This is unacceptable,” Annadurai said.

The Delhi Police and Parliament Security Service (PSS) were replaced by the CISF in May of this year. The takeover was motivated by a security lapse that occurred in December of last year, when two individuals, having sneaked coloured gas canisters into the building, sprang into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour.
