Former Haryana Congress MLA Kiran Chaudhary and her daughter Shruti Chaudhary joined the BJP at its headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday, in the presence of senior party leaders, including Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, former CM and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh was also present during the joining of Kiran Choudhary and Shruti Choudhary.

Kiran and Shruti resigned as primary members of the Congress on Tuesday.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal welcomed Kiran Chaudhary to the BJP as she became a member. He claimed that her body was in the Congress, but her mind was in the BJP. Kiran Chaudhary and Shruti will receive complete respect from the party.

Kiran Chaudhary made accusations against the Congress when she submitted her resignation. She alleged that the state unit of the party was being run as a "personal fiefdom", in an apparent reference to former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Kiran Choudhry is a sitting MLA serving from Tosham in the Bhiwani district. She is the daughter-in-law of former Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal.
