In the wake of flooding in Srivaikuntam, Thoothukudi, a pregnant woman, Anushiya Mayil, was successfully airlifted by an Indian Air Force (IAF) rescue team after her family sent out an SOS message. Yesterday morning, Anushiya delivered her baby at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in Madurai, where she was admitted to the maternity ward.
The IAF rescue team responded to the distress call from Anushiya Mayil's family, navigating the flood-hit Srivaikuntam region to airlift the pregnant woman to safety. The timely intervention played a crucial role in ensuring her well-being and that of her unborn child.

The relentless downpour in Tamil Nadu has led to ten reported deaths in rain-related incidents, exacerbating the flood crisis in several districts. Heavy rainfall has paralyzed normal life, prompting extensive rescue and relief operations by the Indian Air Force, the army, and other response teams.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, advocating for the declaration of the floods as a national calamity. CM Stalin emphasized the urgent need for relief funds to support livelihoods and repair damaged public infrastructure in the inundated southern districts.
CM Stalin urged Prime Minister Modi to expedite relief efforts by releasing interim funds amounting to Rs 7,033 crore and a permanent relief fund of Rs 12,659 crore.
As the state grapples with the aftermath of the floods, the concerted efforts of rescue teams aim to provide immediate assistance to those affected.
