Tamil Nadu School Holiday: Students and teachers in several districts of Tamil Nadu can look forward to additional holidays this week, as local administrations have declared school closures for upcoming regional festivals.

Tamil Nadu School News: Ariyalur District School Holiday

In Ariyalur district, schools will remain shut on Tuesday, July 23, 2025. This holiday has been declared in honour of the birth anniversary of Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I, who is remembered for his military achievements and governance. Cultural events and commemorations are expected to take place across the district to mark the occasion. This comes alongside previously announced local holidays on July 24 and July 28 in the region.

According to a Jagran Josh report, to make up for the additional holiday on July 23, the District Collector has declared Saturday, July 26, 2025, as a full working day for both government offices and schools in Ariyalur. This step has been taken to ensure that academic and administrative work continues without disruption.

Tamil Nadu: Kanyakumari Schools Closed On July 24

In Kanyakumari district, schools will be closed on July 24, 2025, due to Aadi Amavasai. The holiday has been granted following reports of large public gatherings during the festival, prompting the district administration to declare a day off for all government and private schools.

Tamil Nadu School Holiday: Changalpattu District Schools Closed On July 28

Meanwhile, Chengalpattu district will observe a school holiday on July 28, 2025, on account of the Aadipura festival. To compensate for the day off, a full working day has been scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025.
