In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old school teacher Ramani was stabbed to death by her former lover, Madhan in Mallipattinam Government Higher Secondary School in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district. The frightening incident took place outside the staff room and was witnessed by students and teachers. Madhan was later arrested by the police.

Both Ramani and Madhan were reportedly in a relationship that was opposed by the former's family. Tensions between the two escalated after Ramani reportedly turned down Madan's marriage proposal. Madhan took revenge by stabbing her.

A video from the school captured the distressing moments when students desperately tried to help the critically injured Ramani, carrying her in a bid to save her life. Unfortunately, the teacher passed away before reaching the hospital. Police arrested Madhan shortly after the incident and have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The death has sparked widespread outrage, with opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) of the AIADMK strongly condemning the state government. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, he criticized the DMK administration for its alleged inability to uphold law and order.

“The news that teacher Ramani was stabbed to death at Mallipattinam Government Higher Secondary School in Thanjavur district is shocking,” EPS wrote. He accused the DMK government of administrative incompetence, claiming that crime has become rampant under its watch. “There is no security for government employees, including school teachers and doctors, even in the government places where they work,” he wrote on X.

In response to the frightening incident, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi condemned the incident and offered support to Ramani’s grieving students, families, and colleagues.

“We strongly condemn the attack on teacher Ramani, who worked at Mallipattinam Government School. Violence against teachers cannot be tolerated at all. Strict legal action will be taken against the attacker,” he said.
