Tamil Nadu Weather: Tamil Nadu is likely to see heavy rainfall across 23 districts on August 16 (Friday) due to the influence of a trough and cyclonic circulation over the sea. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow warning for the Western Ghats and interior districts for the next two days. The weather system involves a trough extending from Rayalaseema to the Comorin area, which is connected to a cyclonic circulation located over the southeast Arabian Sea and the Kerala coast. This trough reaches up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. A less marked cyclonic circulation over southern Sri Lanka and its vicinity extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

The yellow warning covers several districts, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Ramanathapuram.
Tamil Nadu Weather: Heavy Rain To Continue On August 17, 18 In THESE Districts
Intense rainfall is expected to continue on August 17 and 18, particularly in districts such as Coimbatore, Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
Chennai Weather
In Chennai and its suburbs, light showers are expected over the next couple of days. Additionally, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea until August 18 (Sunday) due to potentially squally weather, with wind gusts reaching up to 55 km/h in the Gulf of Mannar and the southern Tamil Nadu coast.
