Tamil Nadu: Almost two months after the Karur Stampede, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhgam (TVK) chief Vijay returned to the campaign for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election. The actor-turned-politician slammed the MK Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) by stating that the ruling party did nothing for the development of the state. Vijay also accused the DMK of making false promises during the polls and promoting the dynasty politics. While addressing his supporters in an indoor auditorium in Kancheepuram district, the TVK founder emphasised that his ideology was to provide everyone an equal opportunity.

Vijay further pointed out that his party will not be making any false promises to win the polls, adding that the people of Tamil Nadu seek a change in the upcoming polls. “TVK did not make empty claims like DMK on ending NEET, instead it sought shifting education to state list in Constitution,” the TVK founder was quoted as saying by PTI. “DMK will regret opposing me. Gen Z will ensure my victory in the upcoming polls,” he added.

While responding to the claims of his alleged lack of clarity on ideology, Vijay asserted that his party's ideology is clear- to provide equal opportunities to everyone. He further alleged that the DMK's ideology was to loot and promoting the dynasty politics. He emphasised the newly formed TVK has been receiving grand response, especially from the youth.

Vijay's First Crowd Address Since Karur Stampede

This was Vijay's first crowd address after the infamous Karur stampede in which at least 41 people were killed and others were left injured. The TVK founder was accused of arriving late to the event, leading to unrest among the supporters. He was also accused of not handling the situation gracefully, as he left to Chennai immediately after the incident.
