Tamil Nadu Woman Tied Up, Thrashed And Stripped; Police Probes Caste Angle As Viral Video Stirs Public Anger

Tamil Nadu News: A visually disturbing video showing a woman allegedly tied to a tree, beaten, and partially stripped by a group of four women near Panruti in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district has gone viral on social media. 

According to police reports, quoted by the NDTV, the actual reason behind this brutality was a land dispute. Out of the four accused, the police have managed to arrest one woman while the rest are on the run. 

"We have formed special teams to trace the accused on the run. A land issue appears to be the motive. Investigation is underway," a senior police officer remarked. The police are also investigating whether this atrocity has any angle of caste-based violence or not.

The Viral Video

The video reportedly shows the woman tied to a tree with her own saree. Four women surrounded her and attempted to strip off her saree. The assailants went on to strip the woman off her blouse. One of the attackers hurled curse words at the tied women, saying, “You are equivalent to a dog.” Another is seen wielding a stick and striking the victim, while one pulls her by the hair.

A passer-by recorded the entire incident while warning the assailants that if they are caught by the police, all four of them could end up in big trouble. However, the attackers remained unfazed by the warnings and went ahead with the brutality.

In the end, an elderly woman came to the scene and prevented the attackers from inflicting further humiliation to the tied woman.
