Tamil Nadu Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the residents of Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu are set to witness scorching heat on Thursday. The weather department issued the alert as the voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election is underway after weeks of intensified campaigning. In its advisory, the IMD asserted that the temperature across the state is likely to remain around 40 degrees Celsius. It has advised the voters to follow the guidelines and take precautionary measures throughout the day.

- Limit outings during the peak hours
- Stay hydrated throughout the day
- Wear light-coloured clothes during the outings
- Increase fruit intake, especially those with higher water quantity
The weather department has stated that the day temperature in most of the districts is likely to remain between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius. However, it pointed out that the residents are set to experience the "feel-like" temperature above 42 degrees Celsius due to the high humidity levels. "Relative humidity will be lower, around 20-30 per cent, over interior districts, so actual temperatures there may be higher," VR Durai, Director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre at RMC Chennai, was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Chennai Weather Update
The IMD stated that the residents of the capital city are set to witness scorching heat in the upcoming days, adding that there is no alert for rainfall at least till April 27. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 37 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is set to remain around 25 degrees Celsius.
While the coastal regions are set to get relief due to the sea breeze, the residents would still continue to witness higher-than-normal temperatures in April.
