Tamil Nadu Weather: Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness hotter days ahead, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai. The weather department has issued a warning about rising temperatures and continued rainfall in parts of the state.
In its latest forecast on Saturday, the RMC said that temperatures may increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. This rise in temperature, coupled with high humidity, will make conditions more uncomfortable in the coming days.
Chennai Weather
Chennai, known for its humid weather during summer and early monsoon months, is expected to experience maximum temperatures around 34 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures near 28 degrees Celsius on June 29. While the day may begin with partly clear skies, cloud cover is expected to increase as the day progresses.
The RMC has also predicted thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds up to 30–40 kmph for the city. Several districts, particularly those along the Western Ghats, are likely to receive heavy rainfall over the weekend. The skies are expected to remain cloudy throughout the day.
Weather blogger K Srikanth, who runs the Chennai Rains social media page, mentioned that stronger westerly winds may push temperatures further up in Chennai. The absence of the usual evening sea breeze could add to the discomfort, he added.

According to a DT Next report, data from the RMC showed that Madurai Airport recorded the highest temperature on Saturday at 40.2 degrees Celsius. Tiruchy Airport and Thanjavur followed with 39.1 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius respectively. In Chennai, Meenambakkam registered 38.1 degrees Celsius, while Nungambakkam recorded 37.7 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has received 22 per cent more rainfall than usual this Southwest Monsoon season. The average rainfall for June is 46.5 mm, but this year the state has already recorded 56.7 mm. Districts along the Western Ghats, including Coimbatore, saw significant showers. The Cauvery river has also seen a good inflow due to rains in catchment areas of neighbouring states.
