Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next three days. Apart from the heavy rainfall, multiple districts are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. While providing details, the weather department stated that the coastal regions are set to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, adding that other regions are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

"An atmospheric circulation is prevailing over the southwest Bay of Bengal, South India, South Kerala and adjacent areas. Due to this, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas," the meteorological department stated. While the rainfall is expected to provide relief from the heat by reducing the temperature by two to three degrees Celsius, it may also lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages.

Weather forecast: Heavy rainfall expected till August 9

August 7: The weather department stated that several regions, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet districts, are set to receive heavy rain.

August 8: Heavy rainfall is likely in Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Coimbatore, and Nilgiris.

August 9: Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Salem, and Puducherry are likely to witness heavy rainfall, along with strong winds.

Chennai to receive moderate rain

The IMD also stated that the capital city, Chennai, is expected to witness moderate rainfall, along with cloudy skies and gentle breezes, for the next few days. It further stated that while the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 37 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius.
