Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that along with the heavy rainfall, the coastal regions are also expected to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in multiple cities, leading to inconveniences. The weather department has directed the authorities to stay on alert and has also advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several southern and coastal districts, including Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, and Thoothukudi, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall at least till November 13. It further stated that the heavy downpour is likely to cause a flood-like situation in the lower regions, leading to issues for the residents.

The IMD further stated that upper air cyclonic circulation over the central Bay of Bengal and northern region of Tamil Nadu has led to rainfall in the southern states. Apart from this, the weather department also stated that several regions are likely to witness thunderstorms and lightning till November 14. However, it further clarified that the intensity of the rainfall in most of the districts will reduce after November 17, providing major relief to the residents.
The residents of the capital city Chennai witnessed heavy rainfall and strong surface winds on Tuesday, leading to waterlogging in several regions. While the maximum temperature was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies and limit their financial activities for the next few days.
