Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are expected to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and strong surface winds. It further emphasised that the continuous rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the excessive rainfall is also likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in several cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Tamil Nadu: These districts to witness rainfall
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Nilgiris, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Salem, Dharmapuri, Erode, Theni, and Dindigul, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. Apart from rainfall, the residents of these districts are also set to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds. The vehicular movement is also likely to get affected in these cities due to the waterlogging, the weather department informed.
Chennai is expected to receive light rain
The IMD also stated that the capital city, Chennai, is also expected to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next two to three days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 36 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 28 degrees Celsius. The residents of Chennai are set to witness cloudy skies and gentle breezes for most of the days.
The IMD has advised the fishermen to limit their financial activities and maintain a distance from the water bodies for the next few days. It also suggested the farmers take care of their crops to minimise the loss, further advising them to not hide beneath any big tree or electricity poles to avoid damage.
