Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that along with heavy rainfall, the coastal regions are also expected to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall is expected to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the excessive rainfall might also lead to issues like waterlogging and power cuts in multiple regions. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain expected for next few days
September 18: While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, Iranipet, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Nagapattinam, are likely to witness heavy rain.
September 19: Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, Iranipet, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts are set to receive heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
September 20: Light to moderate rain is expected in multiple districts of North Tamil Nadu. Strong winds with thunder and lightning are likely to blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph. The weather department stated that the maximum temperature in the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal regions may gradually increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in some of the regions.
The IMD has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies and limit their financial activities to avoid inconveniences. It also suggested the farmers protect the crop, as waterlogging is expected in multiple regions of the state. It also advised them to not hide beneath any electricity pole or big tree during the intense rainfall.
