Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive light to heavy rain till June 29. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions are expected to witness heavy rain along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain. The IMD also stated that the rain will reduce the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) stated that several districts, including Chennai, Ranipet, Puducherry, Tiruvallur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Dindigul, Theni, Thoothukudi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Sivaganga, Chengalpattu, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Namakkal, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, and Virudhunagar, are likely to receive light to heavy rain in the upcoming few days.

The weather department further stated that the state will receive the rain due to cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea. It added that the capital city, Chennai, is also likely to receive light to moderate rain in the upcoming few days.

Apart from the rain, the residents are also expected to experience a gentle breeze, providing relief from the heat. While the maximum temperature of Chennai is likely to be calculated at 34 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 28 degrees Celsius. It further stated that the humidity is expected to be around 58 per cent.

The IMD stated that apart from Tamil Nadu, several other states, including Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Telangana, are also likely to witness rainfall.
