The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in several regions of Tamil Nadu for the next few days. The weather department stated that the rainfall will significantly reduce the temperature of these regions, providing a relief to the residents from scorching heat. It further stated that the weather will change due to significant developments in the Bay of Bengal.

It stated that several regions of southern sates, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi and Karaikal are expected to witness rainfall with strong winds and thunder on April 6. While releasing the advisory, the weather department instructed the local administration to stay alert and follow the guidelines.
The weather department also stated that these regions will experience similar weather pattern from April 7 to April 11. While providing details, it stated that parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during this period of time. However, it said that the temperature is likely to surge in other parts of temperature by 2 to 3 degrees. Apart from this, the RMC also urged the fishermen to stay alert and follow the guidelines for the next few days.
Apart from this, the weather department stated that a new western disturbance is expected to influence the Western Himalayan region from April 8, bringing scattered light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from April 8 to 11.
While some areas will see rain, many regions in northern and central India are likely to face heatwave conditions. Temperatures are predicted to rise steadily, particularly in places like Saurashtra, Rajasthan and parts of Delhi and Haryana from April 6 to 10.
