A Controversial remark by a renowned Tollywood actor and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA, Nandamuri Balakrishna, stirred a political slugfest after he called former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy a ‘Psycho’.

Balakrishna made the remark in the state assembly when he was expressing his displeasure over his name being placed on the 9th number in an invitation by the Film Development Corporation. He was upset with Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh for the same.

Balakrishna ‘Psycho’ Remark On Former CM: Here’s What Happened In Andhra Assembly

- Renowned Tollywood personality, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s remark against the former CM was a result of an interruption that he made while a BJP MLA was speaking on the Law and Order situation in the Assembly.

- BJP MLA Kamineni Srinivas claimed that when YSRCP was in power and Tollywood personalities wanted to meet Reddy, he never gave them appointments, as he spoke on the Law and Order situation during YSRCP.

- Balakrishna said that a delegation of film industry representatives had gone to meet the ‘psycho’ (referring to Reddy, as he had intervened Srinivas. “It’s false that he (Jagan Mohan Reddy) came to meet them (Tollywood personalities) when Chiranjeevi raised his voice," Balakrishna said.

T- he Tollywood actor also claimed that CM wanted the delegation should meet Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh. Balakrishna further expressed his displeasure with his name being placed in the 9th spot on an invitation from the Film Development Corporation to discuss industry-related issues.

‘Went To CM House On Invitation’: Chiranjeevi

Making his stand clear, actor Chiranjeevi said that he went to the CM's house after he received an invitation. On whether the former met the industry delegation or not, Chiranjeevi said that initially, he was told that, in view of Covid-19 restrictions, only five persons should come, but they agreed when it was conveyed that the delegation would have 10 members.

Chiranjeevi further added that because of this initiative, the government agreed to increase movie ticket prices.

TDP, MLC Reacts To Balakrishna's Remark

The YSR Congress Party strongly reacted to Balakrishna's comments against Reddy, perceiving them as a sign of internal divisions within the ruling TDP-led coalition.

Former MP Bharat Margani condemned Balakrishna's use of derogatory language, while MLC Tumati Madhava Rao criticised him for making unprovoked and disgraceful remarks in the Assembly that only served to highlight the coalition's internal rifts.
