US President Donald Trump’s name missing from the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winners’ list has triggered widespread discussion online, with memes and reactions flooding social media. Joining the trend, senior Congress leader and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi shared a witty post on X, playfully referring to Trump’s disappointment.

Singhvi’s post read, “In a lighter vein… with appropriate ‘poor joke PJ’ forewarning… but concededly witty… Trump: Agar mujhe Nobel Peace Prize nahi diya, toh main duniya mein tehelka macha doonga… Nobel Committee: Machado.”

The clever wordplay in his post used “Machado,” linking it to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who was announced as this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner for her efforts to restore democracy in Venezuela. Singhvi’s tongue-in-cheek humour quickly drew attention on social media, gaining numerous reactions and impressions.

Trump, meanwhile, was widely believed by his supporters to be among the frontrunners for the prize this year. Throughout 2024, he repeatedly claimed credit for fostering peace and reducing global conflicts, even asserting that he “ended eight wars.” He also boasted of easing tensions between India and Pakistan following a brief military standoff in May, a claim that was strongly denied by India.
