A 25-year-old tech professional from Manikonda has accused a man she met on Instagram of raping her during a birthday celebration at his home. The accused, identified as J. Siddha Reddy (24), a resident of Balanagar and originally from Nalgonda, had connected with the woman on the social media platform about a month ago.

Over time, the two began interacting frequently through Instagram and phone calls. As the online friendship grew, Reddy reportedly gained her trust. He then invited her to his residence on Wednesday, claiming he had planned a birthday celebration for her.

The woman reached his house in the evening. During the get-together, the two drank beer together. According to her complaint, Reddy allegedly took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted her soon after.

She managed to flee the premises after the assault and immediately contacted the police for help.

The Balanagar police responded promptly to her call. Officers arrived at the location, rescued the woman, and registered a case based on her statement.

"We have charged the accused with rape. We have since arrested Reddy, and he has been sent to judicial custody," Balanagar Circle Inspector Narasimha Raju told NDTV.

Reddy, who works at a private IT firm in Hyderabad, is currently in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
