The accused used to make the people believe he would perform a puja to find treasure for them. As per police, the miscreant used to extract money and get lands registered in his name before killing the victims by pouring acid and some unknown poison in their mouth.

He has been involved in such acts since 2020 and managed to evade arrest.

The police action against the alleged ‘serial killer’ came after a woman complained on November 26 that her husband left home to meet one Sathyanarayana and did not return home in five days. The police SI investigating the case developed suspicion after the strange behaviour of Sathyanarayana.

The police said the accused was in real state business and practised herbal medicine as well. He informed his friends in the real state that he knows the art of finding the hidden treasure.

The complainant's husband, Venkatesh and his friend went to the accused to find treasure. The miscreant complied with the request and asked for money. He laid out a condition that only Venkatesh would contact him in the process. Saying that he was in the middle of the process, the accused asked Venkatesh to bring three pregnant women for sacrifice. This developed fear in the mind of Venkatesh and requested his money back.
