Telangana News:  A shocking incident has come to light from Narayanpet district of Telangana, where a farmer was slapped by a Sub-Inspector of Police during a heated dispute over urea demand. A video showing a police officer slapping a farmer has gone viral on the internet, triggering widespread outrage and protests.

The incident took place on Saturday at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) in Tileru, where a large number of farmers gathered since morning to purchase urea. As soon as the stock started running low and demand went high, it turned into a heated argument with the police officer slapping one of those farmers.

In the viral video, farmers can be seen expressing their frustration over the urea shortage and demanding more urea bags, with the police struggling to manage the crowd. Amid the chaos, a sub-inspector of police who was assigned to manage the crowd slapped a farmer identified as Satyanarayana Reddy from Rakolu village. The viral video shows the officer physically assaulting the farmer.

Soon after the incident, the agitated farmers staged a protest and chanted slogans against both the police and the state government, accusing them of failing to handle the shortage of fertilisers and the crowd.

The video went viral on the internet, with many criticising the police behaviour and highlighting the government’s failure to ensure a steady supply of essential agricultural inputs. The police have said the incident was ‘unintentional’ and ‘accidental’.

This isn’t the first time police have been accused of mistreating farmers. Earlier this year, a police officer was suspended in Nirmal district after a video showing him manhandling an elderly farmer at a revenue meeting surfaced. In another such incident, police were seen handcuffing farmers in Jogulamba Gadwal, which drew criticism from the Telangana Farmers Commission.
